Inspired By: Book Covers

Today I came across this picture of an interior designed by Harriet Anstruther, and I like the framed painting of the book cover above the fire place.

It has inspired me to do some art of my own, so I've been gathering on Pinterest images of book covers. I started with Coralie Bickford-Smith's cover designs of classics simply because I like the simplicity of them and the patterns she uses:
Penguin also has some beautiful covers
This one is from their UK series, "Great Ideas"
Here are several patterned covers of books by women writers, from Virago Press:
I like the way Jessica Comingore styled these Virginia Woolf covers with a more modern, abstract look:
Finally, I like this cover for one of my favorite books, One Hundred Years of Solitude:
I'm not sure yet if I want to try to recreate one of these covers or if I want to come up with one of my own, but I'm looking forward to creating something that combines two things I love - painting and reading. Or maybe I'll use the stained glass window for inspiration. I will post a follow-up if/when I create something. :)
