It has inspired me to do some art of my own, so I've been gathering on Pinterest images of book covers. I started with Coralie Bickford-Smith's cover designs of classics simply because I like the simplicity of them and the patterns she uses:
Penguin also has some beautiful covers:
This one is from their UK series, "Great Ideas"
Here are several patterned covers of books by women writers, from Virago Press:I like the way Jessica Comingore styled these Virginia Woolf covers with a more modern, abstract look:
Finally, I like this cover for one of my favorite books, One Hundred Years of Solitude:
I'm not sure yet if I want to try to recreate one of these covers or if I want to come up with one of my own, but I'm looking forward to creating something that combines two things I love - painting and reading. Or maybe I'll use the stained glass window for inspiration. I will post a follow-up if/when I create something. :)
