Inspired by: City and Colour's "The Girl"

This song moved me today, so I wanted to share it. I posted the lyrics below, too, so you can see what he says. I like the tune a lot, but what really strikes me is the song's praise of selflessness. I like that it is written not because the girl is "perfect" or because she has given him anything in particular but simply because she sacrifices a lot and doesn't ask for much in return. I'm challenged by her love that gives without demand, and I find so lovely that her actions inspire his response of self-giving in the form of the song. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I have.

"The Girl" by City and Colour

I wish I could do better by you,
'cause that's what you deserve
You sacrifice so much of your life
In order for this to work.

While I'm off chasing my own dreams
Sailing around the world
Please know that I'm yours to keep
My beautiful girl

When you cry a piece of my heart dies
Knowing that I may have been the cause
If you were to leave
Fulfill someone else's dreams
I think I might totally be lost

You don't ask for no diamond rings
No delicate string of pearls
That's why I wrote this song to sing
My beautiful girl
