The first week in September was so hot and humid, and a little miserable. But literally overnight we went from upwards of 90 degrees to mid-60s, and this past weekend was even cooler. I feel for our San Diego family and friends - I am enjoying every minute of coolness for you!
And I think this makes fall official: I had my first pumpkin spice latte of the season. It was iced, and not at all as good as it is when hot, but I still loved it. :)
Speaking of fall flavors, here are a few things I've been enjoying lately. First, this humungous blackberry - I actually cut them in half to put in my yogurt!
A simple snack inspired by my friend Chloe (I had it first at her house): avocado and whole grain crackers.
I treated myself to reading Martha Stewart Living when I finished my grading on Friday, and I caught the fall baking bug.
I didn't make anything with caramel or apples, but I did make some spiced poached pears. We had students over last night, and I wanted a somewhat lighter dessert, so I made this recipe (from one of my favorite blogs) and served the pears with vanilla bean ice cream. They were quite good, and I love that they sound so gourmet but are really one of the easiest desserts to make. :)I have a few more projects and posts coming soon!
